Alaska
Alaska and Beyond’s cruise planner specializes in Alaska Cruises because she was born and raised there and still lives there today. she is blessed enough to work throughout the state, as a tour guide, sharing this incredible state with many visitors.
Alaska is one of the most popular places to cruise because it is one of the few places on earth where history, natures and wildlife are so incredible that a person must see it to believe it. Glaciers calving, close-up encounters with whales, bald eagles, bears, caribou, moose, and salmon spawning are just a few of the sights visitors have seen during their visit to Alaska.
Alaska known as the “Land of the Midnight Sun” or the “Great White North” is so large, that there are endless horizons, shorelines, mountains, and ice fields. Most passengers marvel at the midnight sun as they are cruising through the inside passage. The further north you travel, the lighter the evenings are. Fourth of July fireworks in JuneauAlaska start at 11:00 PM in order to be viewed due to the midnight sun. Of course, the sun is not a seen much in Southeast Alaska. Southeast Alaska in a rainforest and that is why the scenery is so lush and green. The snow peaked mountains are visible whether you are cruising the inside passage or taking part in a cruise land tour further north. The ice fields are incredible to see and the fact that the state capital, Juneau, is land locked by an ice field amaze travelers. Juneau is only reachable by air or sea. Many visitors ask how all the cars get to Juneau and the answer is by barge or ferry.
When cruising the inside passage, the ports of calls that you may visit include Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Skagway, Tracy Arm Fjord, and /or Glacier Bay National Park. If you are cruising the Gulf of Alaska, past ice-age attractions, including glaciers in College Fjord, the breathtaking beauty of Prince William Sound, your ship may either dock in Whittier or Seward. Many passengers add a cruise land tour, which allow them to see more of the interior of Alaska. There are different cruise land tours for passenger to choose from. DenaliNational Park and the Kenai Peninsula are just two of the options. Mt.McKinely is majestic and visible from Anchorage and along the way to DenaliPark. The Kenai Peninsula has beautiful rivers, forest and incredible fishing. When traveling on a cruise land tour, you will either be on a motor coach or a train. The Caribbean is a destination that boasts sun-drenched tropical beauty and cultural diversity. The Caribbean islands have a distinctive mixture of influences from Europe, Africa and Latin America, which make up a wonderful assortment of cultures amongst a breathtaking backdrop of lush tropical jungles, fresh water caves, white-sand beaches, charming cities and ancient ruins.
Each island has its own incredible story. Histories and cities are fascinating, from the ancient Mayan city of Tulum on the YucatanPeninsula, to the Chacchoben ruins near Costa Maya. Stories about the legends of Aruban gold, Jamaican voodoo or the origins of St. Maarten's half-French, half-Dutch culture fascinate visitors.
The Eastern Caribbean islands are blessed with turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, lush rain forests, coral reefs and some of the most amazing duty free shopping. Most of the cruise ships are able to dock at the islands which are great while traveling with people who have problems with tendering.
The Western Caribbean islands are blessed with Mayan ruins, mountain waterfalls, underground caves and some of the best snorkeling in the world. Many of the ports are tender ports, so book your shore excursions accordingly.
